What cookies are
Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your device. Similar technologies, such as your browser’s local storage, work in the same way. They help the site work, remember your choices and, if you agree, help us understand how the site is used and measure our adverts.
Your choice
When you first visit, our cookie banner asks you to choose “Accept all” or “Essential only”. Analytics and advertising cookies are only set if you choose “Accept all”. You can change your mind at any time: change your cookie settings and the banner will appear again.
Essential cookies
These are needed for the site to work and cannot be switched off. They do not track you for marketing.
- cg_consent – remembers your cookie choice. 12 months.
- cg_consent_v – records which version of this notice your choice was made under, so we can ask again if what we do changes. 12 months.
- cg_notrack – used only by our own staff, to switch off visit recording on their devices. 2 years.
- woocommerce_cart_hash, woocommerce_items_in_cart, wp_woocommerce_session_* – keep your shop basket working. Up to 2 days.
- wordpress_logged_in_*, wordpress_sec_* – keep you signed in to the customer resource hub. Until you sign out or close your browser.
- _GRECAPTCHA (Google reCAPTCHA) – protects our forms from spam. 6 months.
- Payment provider cookies such as __stripe_mid and __stripe_sid (Stripe, including Klarna, Apple Pay and Google Pay) and PayPal’s cookies – used at checkout to process payments securely and prevent fraud. Up to 1 year.
- Our hosting may also use a short-lived cookie to serve cached pages quickly.
Analytics cookies (only with “Accept all”)
We use Google Analytics to see which pages are visited, how people find us and which pages lead to enquiries and orders, so we can improve the site. We keep this data for 14 months.
- _ga and _ga_CKF1FZS8J0 – distinguish visitors and sessions. 2 years.
We also keep our own record of visits to this website, which is not shared with Google: the pages you view, how long you spend on each and how far down you scroll, which sections of a page you reach, and which buttons and links you click, such as downloading a brochure or booking a call. It never includes anything you type into a form. If you then send us an enquiry or book a call, the pages you viewed in the previous 90 days are added to your enquiry so our team can help you. We keep this record for 14 months.
- cg_jv (local storage) – a random ID that tells repeat visits apart. 13 months.
- cg_js (local storage) – a random ID for the current visit. A new one starts after 30 minutes without activity.
We also use Microsoft Clarity to see how our pages are used, through heatmaps and recordings of visits. Anything you type is hidden from the recordings, and Clarity does not run on the checkout, the customer resource hub or for signed-in customers. Microsoft keeps recordings for up to 30 days and summary data for up to 13 months.
- _clck – keeps Clarity’s random ID for your browser. 1 year.
- _clsk – links the pages of one visit into a single recording. 1 day.
- CLID, ANONCHK, MR, MUID, SM (Microsoft) – used by Microsoft to run Clarity and recognise the same browser across visits. Up to 1 year.
Advertising cookies (only with “Accept all”)
We advertise on Google and use Google Ads tags to measure whether a visit from an advert leads to an enquiry, demo request, brochure download or order. Our shop also uses Google’s tags to measure product adverts.
- _gcl_au and _gcl_aw – connect your visit to the advert you clicked. 90 days.
- sbjs_current, sbjs_first, sbjs_session, sbjs_udata and related cookies (WooCommerce) – remember how you found our shop during your visit, so an order can be linked to the advert or site that brought you. Up to 30 minutes.
If you choose “Essential only”, or have not made a choice, Google’s tags run in a restricted mode that does not set or read advertising or analytics cookies on your device. In that mode they may still send limited signals without cookies, such as that a page was viewed, which Google uses to estimate how adverts perform overall. You can read how Google uses information from websites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites, and manage the adverts Google shows you at myadcenter.google.com.
Local storage
The site uses your browser’s storage to remember small things during your visit, such as not downloading the same brochure twice, and to record how you arrived on the site so that, if you send us a form, we know which page and which marketing brought you to us.
Managing cookies in your browser
You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking essential cookies may stop parts of the site working, including the shop basket and signing in to the resource hub. Guidance for most browsers is at aboutcookies.org.
